Description
Duplus Secured By Design Roof Lanterns
Our Secured By Design roof lantern has been tested by a leading independent testing facility, BRE (Building Research Establishment) and achieved LPS 2081:Issue 1 certification. This means that our secured roof lanterns conform to the requirements set out in The Building Regulations Approved Document Part Q (Secured by Design). The test involves a timed manual attack using various methods to determine whether the rooflight can withstand an attack by an intruder.
Advanced Features
To achieve secured by design Part Q certification, our rooflights are double glazed with an outer pane of clear toughened and HEATSOAKED safety glass and an inner pane of clear laminated glass. If required we offer blue, bronze or grey tinting or if preferred, an obscure finish for privacy or high-performance solar control to minimise solar gain (heat) (g) and maximise light transmittance (Lt).
Unlike traditional ‘stepped edge’ glass rooflights where the outer edge of the glass is vulnerable to breakage, our secure roof lanterns fully enclose the double-glazed units within the perimeter framework to eliminate this risk. The top surface of the double-glazed unit is flush with the external face of the perimeter frame to allow rainwater to disperse rapidly, minimising cleaning and maintenance requirements.
Easy Installation
As with all our rooflight products, this Secure By Design roof lantern rooflight is easy to install. An integral perimeter gasket creates an air and water seal without the need for site-applied silicone. The product is secured via screw fixing to the builders kerb externally and a matching cover clip is then applied to conceal the fixings.
This roof lantern is also available without external cappings for a truly frameless external appearance.
Modern Design
Our accredited structural silicone glazing techniques enable us to produce our 30-degree frameless low-pitch Secured By Design roof lantern. Frameless in design and no requirement for an internal framework to the product hips or ridge. When looking up at the roof lantern, the external hip and ridge cappings are designed to remain unseen. The internal finish of the glass-to-glass joints creates a sleek, ’frameless’ contemporary aesthetic that is truly jaw-dropping.
Material Specifications & U-Value
The extruded thermally broken aluminium perimeter frame is powder-coated RAL 7016 Anthracite grey matt externally and RAL 9910 white matt internally as standard. External hip and ridge cappings are fitted for aesthetics and are powder-coated RAL 7016 Anthracite grey matt to match the external perimeter frame at the base of the lantern rooflight. Other RAL colour options are available upon request.
All our rooflight glazing specifications incorporate clear low ‘E’ glass as standard, achieving a centre pane U-value of 1.1 W/m²K. Please refer to our FAQ section for an explanation of heatsoaked glass.
Delivered FULLY ASSEMBLED. No need for time-consuming assembly on-site. Significantly higher security compared to kit systems.
